Introduction

Laxmi Memorial College of Hotel Management was started under Laxmi Memorial Education Trust in 2008. The college was started with an objective of providing the opportunity for students to obtain knowledge in a variety of disciplines related to the hotel industry and to provide an educational foundation for a range of administrative, operational and management careers in the hospitality industry. The college is affiliated to Mangalore University and offering 3 yr BSc.(H.S) programme.

As a result, current consumer preferences, product life cycles, employment concepts have undergone tremendous changes, because of which the challenges that the corporate world faces today are multi-dimensional.

While on the one hand there is a need to augment resources – both technological and human, to face the competition all over the world, on the other there is also a need to reduce increasing costs. ‘The best quality at the least cost’ seems to be the motto of the present day economic development. From the human resources stand point, this necessitates the emergence of young and effective managerial talent with an exposure to strategic specialization. Welcome to Laxmi Memorial College of Hotel Management, Mangalore – a leading Hotel Management College in southern India. I take this opportunity to share with you that our students have secured ranks in University Examinations and one of them has been approached by many IIM’s Colleges to pursue MBA in their institutes. This highlights the tremendous scope that the students have after successfully completing the three years of BSc(HS). Course. We strive to become the center of excellence in Hospitality education. We at Laxmi Memorial College of Hotel Management create an environment in which students will develop intellectually and personally with world-class instruction, innovative curriculum, and on the job training. We ensure that the quality of interaction and coordination with the hospitality corporate are industry knowledge productive and job oriented. Therefore we work closely with the hospitality corporate in order to reduce the gap of the institute and the industry.

The location of our institute at Laxmi Memorial College of Hotel Management Annexe provides a congenial atmosphere for our students. They are given practical training under the guidance of eminent experienced faculties who train them to perform well academically by conducting regular classes, mock interviews, group discussions, seminar and paper presentations and hones them for their future careers. An important aspect of practical training apart from academic learning is to encourage students to inculcate in themselves managerial qualities while learning by organizing fests during the academic year. As a part of their curriculum our students undergo industrial training in some of the leading hotels both with international and national brands like Taj group, ITC Welcome group, The Park, Hotel Four Seasons, The Oberoi, Le Meridien, ISTA, Hyatt, to name a few. Our students are enthused to take up part-time jobs in the industry to update themselves with the new trends and changing concepts of the industry.
